Split Ends: And New Beginnings is a funny, moving, and utterly original memoir from Greek Cypriot writer, actor and comedienne Olga Thompson. Set in her family’s vibrant 1980s North London hair salon, El Greco of Hornsey, this book captures the highs, lows—and spectacular hairdos—of growing up in a post-immigrant Britain.

With warmth, wit and an unapologetically honest voice, Olga reflects on her chaotic childhood, the joy and heartache of motherhood, and the wild ride through menopause. Through laugh-out-loud anecdotes and tender, unfiltered moments, she paints a vivid picture of culture, identity, and the realities of womanhood.

Part love letter, part coming-of-age story, Split Ends is a celebration of resilience, family, and finding beauty in the mess—complete with every hairdressing pun you never knew you needed.
